2016 Year-end Qualification Rankings Update

It’s time for the final Disc Golf World Tour qualification rankings update of the inaugural season! The top 3 players keep their positions in this one but the rest of the top 10 is a bit different story. Ricky Wysocki continues to extend his lead at the top with his 3rd place finish at the USDGC last week. Paul McBeth is our #2 even after the 20th spot at the USDGC. He racked up a healthy amount of points this season that form a solid buffer before the third ranked Seppo Paju who managed to gain enough points to hold his position. This update features the changes brought by the inaugural Disc Golf World Tour season finale: The legendary USDGC.

While the top 3 is stagnant in this update the same can’t be said about the rest of the top 10. Karl Johan Nybo showed why he is the 11-time Danish champion by placing 8th at the USDGC. His performance on US soil took him up by two spots in the rankings and #4 in the 2016 year-end rankings. Only European player to out-perform KJ Nybo last weekend was Teemu Nissinen who rose one spot and is currently ranked 6th.

USDGC top 4 climbs up

The same names that we’re on top of the USDGC leaderboard also make an appearance in the top 10 of the DGWT rankings. Eagle McMahon made his top 10 debut in early September and has kept his pace since then. This time he climbs two spots to finish the season as #7. The biggest winner of this updates is Nikko Locastro who shot up from 13th place all the way to 8th spot. It’s no surprise to see Jeremy Koling in the top 10 after winning the US and DGWT champions titles with his last week’s victory! He rose three spots to 9th place.

In this update the points of the USDGC 2016 were added and USDGC 2016 points expired. Check the rankings page for full rankings.

The next update will take place after the 2017 DGWT opening event Aussie Open held on January 26-29 in Perth, Western Australia. The 2017 DGWT schedule was introduced at the USDGC opening ceremonies.

DGWT standings and qualification rankings explained

Please note that the DGWT qualification rankings and the DGWT standings are two separate things. The DGWT rankings refer to the qualification rankings, which include several significant disc golf events, e.g. DGWT events, National Tour, PDGA Majors, and many more. Rankings are used for qualification for DGWT events and are not the actual standings of the DGWT. More information about the DGWT rankings and standings available on the points system and rules pages.
