Konopiště Open Round 2 Recap

We’re already way past the halfway mark here at Konopiště, Czech Republic! So far we’ve seen two rounds of exciting world class play by the finest disc athletes in the world. With 18 more holes to go on Saturday, the championship is still within reach for at least the 8 players that form the 2 top cards for tomorrow. But first, let’s recap on the moving day action from the scenic Franz Ferdinand course.

The day started with beautiful sunny skies with just a little bit of breeze on the lush green fairways of the Konopiště Castle Park. The great scoring conditions held up all round long for both the morning groups, as well as the lead card with the 12:40 tee time.

The hottest rounds determine the top 3 in competition

Simon Lizotte is in the lead.

Despite the great weather, the -12 round record set on round 1 by Simon Lizotte (GER) and Jalle Stoor (FIN) yesterday held on moving day. The hottest rounds today were performed by Simon Lizotte, KJ Nybo (DEN) and Paul McBeth (USA). All three athletes returned a -10 scorecard for the day. These three players also make up the top 3 on the leaderboard, going into Championship Saturday.

Nate Sexton continues his lead card appearance tomorrow.

Completing tomorrow’s lead group will be Nate Sexton (USA), who kept his tied 4th place today with his -8 round score. The chase card will consist of a team of 4 Finnish players: Seppo Paju and Lassi Hakulinen with the tied 4th place position with their -18 total, completed by Teemu Nissinen (-17) and Jalle Stoor (-16).

Stoor, who started the day tied to the lead with Lizotte, was on the sole lead after the first half of today’s round but was forced to take a double bogey 6 on the very challenging hole 12 and never quite got his game back on track after that.

3 more eagles on hole 11

Day 2 brought us a total of 3 Eagles, as KJ Nybo, Paul McBeth and Jasper Heino (FIN) were able to score a 3 on the 311-meter (1020ft) Par 5 hole 11. Check out Paul’s eagle video below:
