Introducing the DGWT La Mirada Open Media Day

The Disc Golf World Tour is all about the growth of the sport, and to achieve growth, we need to seek new ways to widen the audience around our sport. At the top of the scale, disc golf tournaments have evolved into dynamic, spectator friendly events that are fun to attend even with very little actual understanding of the sport and how it’s played. Despite the welcoming setting, the majority of the media and PR actions taken by tournament directors are focused inside the vacuum of our sport. From players to players.

While it’s important to generate disc golfer -centric media productions from events, in order to seek growth it’s at least equally important to look outside the “bubble” and to promote this fine sport to the general public. With this in mind, we’re proud to introduce an all-new concept for disc golf, the pre-tournament Media Day.

What is the Media Day?

Media Day is all about the balance of inward and outward sports promotion. It’s about giving the general public and the die hard disc golf fans alike an opportunity to meet and greet the finest competitors in our sport. During the Media Day, select players give interviews to different media outlets and attend promo shoots for the DGWT, the sport itself and the manufacturers they represent. We will personally invite current Top-10 Disc Golf World Tour ranked athletes from major disc manufacturers to send their players to attend the 2-hour PR event prior to the La Mirada DGWT event. This way we want to give manufacturers a chance to let their stars shine in the spotlight.

The Media Day can be attended by any and all media outlets, and we especially encourage the manufacturers to take advantage of this free promotional event. The DGWT is happy to provide a credible environment for the production teams of all major manufacturers and disc golf media outlets to create content for their own promotional purposes.

The Media Day will be marketed locally to increase the general public’s interest towards the event and our sport. The DGWT PR department will also promote the Media Day towards traditional media outlets to ensure great coverage for the historical kick-off event of the Disc Golf World Tour. La Mirada Media Day will happen on Tuesday, March 8th at noon. See you at La Mirada!
