Qualification Rankings Update – June 29th

Here we go with another qualification rankings update! This time the biggest moves were made by couple American players who came charging up the ranks: Michael Johansen who made his way in the top 10 and Bradley Williams who rose from 47th spot to 27th by winning the Vibram Open last weekend! Cale Leiviska joins these two among the big winners of this rankings update with his six spot climb to 25th spot.

Shifting in the top 10

Also, there’s a European player in the top 3 for the first time as Simon Lizotte wedged himself between the US players who dominate the rankings. Will Schusterick lost one spot due to earning less points at the 2016 Vibram Open compared to the 2015 Maple Hill Open. Because of the same reasons Jeremy Koling was nudged out of the top 10, down to 14th spot, and Dave Feldberg keeps on the downward trend due to his injury that keeps him out of the events during this season.

This phenomenon is caused by evening out the points awarded for the European and US events for the 2015 events. The 2015 National Tour (NT) events were in the WT1 category while the 2016 NT events are WT2 category. More points are awarded for WT1 events than WT2 events. The 2015 NT events were categorized as WT1 to even out the difference between European and US players since there were only 7 NT events compared to the 10 EuroTour (ET) events in 2015. The 2016 season will feature 7 NT events and 6 ET events, both categorized as WT2 events for DGWT qualification rankings purposes.

In this update the Vibram Open 2016 points were added while Maple Hill Open 2015 points expired. Check the rankings page for full rankings.

DGWT standings and qualification rankings explained

Please note that the DGWT qualification rankings and the DGWT standings are two separate things. The DGWT rankings refer to the qualification rankings, which include several significant disc golf events, e.g. DGWT events, National Tour, PDGA Majors, and many more. Rankings are used for qualification for DGWT events and are not the actual standings of the DGWT. More information about the DGWT rankings and standings available on the points system and rules pages.
