European Amateur Open

European Amateur Open is a brand new component of the famed European Open. As the name suggest the event is geared towards amateur players. This is a PDGA B-tier event that takes place on the weekend before the European Open. The European Amateur Open brings the renown Beast layout of the Nokia DiscGolfPark available for 180 amateur players!

The event is organized by local Nokia disc golf club and Innova Champion Europe.

Accommodation

The official tournament hotel of the European Open is Scandic Rosendahl. Rosendahl offers special room rates for European Amateur Open competitors as well:
– Standard single room at the price of 99€/night.
– Standard double room at the price of 109€/night.

Prizes: European Open spot and complimentary entry (value $200) to European Open for the player with the lowest 2.round total score.* Additionally merchandise prizes and trophies to top 3 in each division. (European Amateur Open is a trophy only event in it’s core.)
Player packages: Each player will receive a player pack, which includes at least a disc and a t-shirt.
Side events: Division specific ctp competition on hole 1 on tournament rounds.

*If the player with the lowest score has a European Open spot, he will receive a refund of his entry fee. The European Open spot itself will be carried to the player with the lowest score who doesn’t have a European Open spot, regardless of division.

Rules

A current PDGA membership is required to play in the event. PDGA rules and competition manual apply. Additionally, use of all tobacco products (including but not restricted to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff/snus, chewing tobacco, and electronic cigarettes) is forbidden during tournament rounds – starting from the 2-minute warning until scorecard is returned.

Registration, divisions & quotas, entry fees

  • Maximum of 180 players will be taken in the competition.
  • Available divisions: MA1, MA3, FA1, MJ1. (Pros playing am rule is in effect.)
  • Minimum 3 players required per division.
  • Registration takes place at Finnish Disc Golf Association’s website, known as “kisakone”.
  • Registration includes two phases, details below.
Phase 1, May 4 – 23.

The following division specific quotas are in place in the 1st phase:

  • MA1: 60
  • MA3: 60
  • FA1: 30
  • MJ1: 30

Spots are filled in registration order. Entry fee must be paid by May 23rd. Entry fee must be paid through Innova Europe online store.

Registration starts on Thursday, May 4th, at 3 PM (CEST).

Phase 2. May 24 – June 7.
  • Quotas are relieved.
  • Possible available spots will be issued to players on the waiting list in registration order regardless of division.
  • Entry fee must be paid during phase 2. Entry fee must be paid through Innova Europe online store.

Phase 2 starts on Wednesday, May 24th, at 3 PM (CEST). Registration closes on June 7th at 3 PM (CEST).

Course

The course of the European Amateur Open is the Beast – a 18-hole layout of Nokia DiscGolfPark. Check the European Open 2016 course map for reference.

Please note that the European Open 2016 course map is not the final course of European Amateur Open 2017. The course played in the event will be published closer to the event. Some changes to the course are likely to happen before the event e.g. holes 3 and 10 may have to be altered to accommodate other park users.

On Sunday the top groups of each division will one of the last groups to start their final round. Tentatively this will be the top 8 players of each division. More accurate starting order will be published when the final player distribution by divisions is known.

Possible sudden death playoffs for 1st place, other trophy positions, or European Open spot are played as soon as possible. The playoff holes are holes 1, 2, 3, 9 & 10.

Prize ceremony will be organized immediately after the possible playoffs.

Other info

Please note that each group and player must get their scorecards from the tournament office 10-20 minutes before their tee time on Saturday and Sunday. All group members must be at the 1st tee 10 minutes before their tee time.

Player packages are available at the tournament office. Check the opening times from the schedule. Players must get their packages personally.
